DAGS 1Y & 5Y Handicaps Roundup - 2026
I have tabulated the DAGS handicaps again after the last scored round in March 2026. There’s no rhyme/reason for updating at end Q1, it just happens to be when I first did this summary for 2020/2021.
· The BLUE handicap numbers shown are your “WHS Hcp” from Brads updates at end March for each year.
· Next to that, a column “YoY” (year on year) shows whether you went up or down in the previous year. Column “L” shows your YoY performance in the last year.
· And at the far right column “M” shows the 5Y Hcp difference from 2021-2026.
· Anything highlighted GREEN shows improvement YoY, or over the 5 year stretch. White boxes with BLACK numbers show a worsening Hcp.
From the 1Y period 2025-2026, in column L:
· There’s a lot of green (improvement) for the 1Y period, with 14 players getting better with age.
· Andy, Erin, Joe and Mo all pulled their handicaps in by 2 shots or more.
· Floaty came in by a huge 3.7 shots, and Fintan sensational, dropping his Hcp by 4.2. Well done lads.
· However there was no stopping OJ who topped the table, pulling in his Hcp in by 5.4 shots this year – we all suspected this might happen, just a matter of when, well done OJ.
· On the flipside, all the rest of us drifted, with Geoff, Aussie, and Wilbur all blowing by 2 shots or more, and worst of the lot was JK slipping 3.2 shots from his 2025 position – ah well there’s always next year JK.
From the 5Y period 2021-2026, in column M:
· 5 people have a lower Hcp than they did in 2021, with Erin, Mo and Pete all around about a shot better.
· Andy has stormed onto the list with a Hcp 2.0 shots better than 2021. Andy Burch is EVEN BETTER than he was 5 years ago. Wow, hard to believe.
· And OJ is now a monster 10.4 shots better than 5 years ago – well done OJ. That MAY have been helped by his generous 2021 Hcp, but he’s playing good golf also - the challenge now is to keep on trucking OJ!
· And of course the flipside, and that shows Tampo, Barfly, Wilbur and Willy all going out by >5 shots over the stretch, ah well, keep on trying boys.
· Lindsay similar at +5.9, and he has the ignominy of being the only player to have no “green” on his row - come on Lindsay, this year is your year to shine.
· And Ged was on 7.4 shots adrift, and JK topped this table as well, 7.7 shots worse than when he was a yung fella in 2021 - come on JK, lift!
From Whole of Club Averages, along Row 36:
· We now sit at 24.0 average GA handicap across the club, only 0.1 worse than 2025. Over the 5Y stretch all handicaps have gone out by 2.5 shots, or an average of 0.5 shots each year, each player.
Hope this was of interest,
Till next year,
Pete
