I have tabulated the DAGS handicaps again after the last scored round in March 2025 - no rhyme reason for updating at end Q1, it just happens to be when I first did this summary back in 2020.
· The BLUE handicap numbers shown are your “WHS Hcp” from Brads updates at end March for each year.
· Next to that, a column “YoY” (year on year) shows whether you went up or down in the previous year. Column “L” shows your YoY performance in the last year.
· And at the far right column “M” shows the total Hcp difference from 2020-2025.
· Anything highlighted GREEN shows improvement YoY, or over the 5 year stretch. White boxes with BLACK numbers show a worsening Hcp.
Of note:
· The sea of green seen at the 2024 summary (column “J”) has lessened – that was an uncharacteristic improvement blip, due to Brad resetting the HCP’s a shot or so lower to align with new WHS methods.
· 1Y IMPROVERS: (Column L). There were a number of players who improved their handicap from 2024. Most notably Tampo -2.1, Steve -2.3, OJ -2.6. And the biggest improver of all was JK, down -3.0 shots for the year – the man is back, make no mistake.
· 1Y DRIFTERS: (Column L). The worst of the bunch in this last year were Joe B +2.6, Dom +2.8 (geez), Willy +3.4 and Barfly +4.2. Come on you blokes, play fair FFS!
· 5Y IMPROVERS: (Column M). There are now only two players with a long term improved HCP – the most notable of which is Joe Khoury who has pulled his handicap in by 5 shots since his initial 2021 Hcp. The way he’s driving, there appears to be considerable room left for further improvement.
· 5Y DRIFTERS: (Column M). Over the 5 year stretch there are some notable drifters, with Clive at +8.5, Lindsay +8.6, Willy +9.2. But by far the most damning statistic is Capt Ged, the WORST of the lot out 9.8 shots, and now a B Grade fixture – you have got to be joking!
· For the rest, the vast majority, the GA handicaps are on a slow walk north. At the bottom of the sheet I have added Whole of Club Averages line which shows us collectively slipping out by 4.1 strokes each over 5 years, or club average of +0.8 strokes per year, per player.
· A welcome to Andrew Barwick, no line info for you as yet. I will use the WHS number Brad generates after your round on 19/4/25 as the 2025 start point on next years summary. We fully expect that, with the wise counsel of your fellow DAGS, your Hcp will spiral downwards!
Till next year,
Pete
