One pairs match was played Quiet Achievers (Brad & Pete) V Blue Baggers (Dom & Gilligan) making their 2026 debut. Dom followed his LD on 1, with a cracking approach to put BB’s 1 up, then the pair of them won the 2nd to be up 2-0 after 2. Yours truly was also 20 after 2, but that was referring to total strokes, with W-Q-Q jugs, take your pick! BB’s turned 2 up after 9, but Brad came to life to have the game all square after 16. Dom made a solid par on the P4 17th to put them dormy, and they went on to win the last hole, and the match 8-6. 

Sat 30/5: It’s Hughes Rellies day, but Capt Stirling says pairs matches can be played in parallel. There’s 8 pairs nominated, for the following games:

·         Takin’ Care of Business (Bruce & Floaty) V The Wild Reds (Rod & Wilbur)

·         Blue Baggers (Dom & Gilligan) V The Generation Gap (OJ & Willy)

·         Quiet Achievers (Brad & Pete) V Moscow Mules (JK & JoeB)

·         Talking Heads (Muzza & Erin) V The Underdogs (Steve & Aussie)

I would like to get ALL those games away, as we will miss at least 2 weeks in June for the Winter Mug. So pls holler early if you don’t want to play any of the above. Wild Reds will be prioritised for a different match if their game nominated above falls thru.

Sat 6/6: Rd1 Winter Mug, so no pairs will happen.

Sat 13/6: Rd2 Winter Mug, will monitor for Rd1 dropouts, and advise.

RULES:

Scoring – Pairs games are scored on Teams Matchplay Stableford format, regardless of the DAGS daily competition format for that day.

Daily Handicaps – Handicaps “float” throughout the season and finals, as dictated by Brad’s handicap updates issued each week.

Ladder & Finals - 4 points for a win, 2 for a square. Top 4 teams decided on points first, with percentage used to split if needed. Top 4 progress through to a 1st Semi (knockout 3&4), 2nd Semi (double chance 1&2), Prelim and Grand Final.

Drawn Matches - Drawn H&A matches scores are recorded, and 2 pts each awarded. Drawn finals matches are replayed in full at the next opportunity.

Man Down Policy – No replacements. Man down will be given fair chance to recover. Fair chance = the point where a bunch of people are saying “fair suck of the saveloy”. At that point the significant other must play on alone OR that team abandons the comp. In the case of abandonment, walkover 4pts (score 0-0) are awarded to the teams with games remaining against the retirees.

Gimme’s – Pls be conscious there is always a Daily Comp in parallel with pairs matches. So gimme’s should conform to standard DAGS rules, which is 1 putter-head distance.

ENTRY FEE & PRIZEMONEY:

Entry fee is $10 per player. Oracle Insurance Brokers have yet again agreed to sponsor the comp to the tune of $300. That makes a total of $470, so prizemoney distribution for 2026 will, for the first time, extend to 4th place as follows:

·         1st place team = $150 each player and perpetual trophy

·         2nd place team = $50 each player

·         3rd place team = $25 each player

·         4th place team = $10 each player
